Verses on Kindness, Generosity, and Thanksgiving



Kindness

Psalm 141:5 – Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; it is oil upon the head; do not let my head refuse it, for still my prayer is against their wicked deeds.

Proverbs 3:3 -- Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

Proverbs 14:22 -- Will they not go astray who devise evil? But kindness and truth will be to those who devise good.

Proverbs 19:22 – What is desirable in a man is his kindness, and it is better to be a poor man than a liar.

Proverbs 31:26 -- She opens her mouth in wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.

Micah 6:8 -- He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Luke 6:35 -- But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 -- Love is patient, love is kind and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Ephesians 4:32 -- Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

Colossians 3:12 -- So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience;

Generosity

Proverbs 11:24-25 -- There is one who scatters, and yet increases all the more, and there is one who withholds what is justly due, and yet it results only in want. The generous man will be prosperous, and he who waters will himself be watered.

Proverbs 19:17 -- One who is gracious to a poor man lends to the Lord, and He will repay him for his good deed.

Proverbs 21:13 -- He who shuts his ear to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be answered.

Matthew 10:42 -- And whoever in the name of a disciple gives to one of these little ones even a cup of cold water to drink, truly I say to you, he shall not lose his reward.”

Luke 6:38 -- Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”

Luke 12:33 -- Sell your possessions and give to charity; make yourselves money belts which do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near nor moth destroys.

Acts 20:35 -- In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 -- Now this I say, he who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must do just as he has purposed in his heart, not grudgingly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

1 Timothy 6:17-19 -- Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed.

1 John 3:17 -- But whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?

Thanksgiving

1 Chronicles 16:8 -- Oh give thanks to the Lord, call upon His name; make known His deeds among the peoples.

1 Chronicles 16:34 -- O give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His lovingkindness is everlasting.

Psalm 69:30 -- I will praise the name of God with song and magnify Him with thanksgiving.

Psalm 95:2-3 -- Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is a great God and a great King above all gods.

Psalm 100:4 -- Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name.

Jonah 2:9 -- But I will sacrifice to You with the voice of thanksgiving. That which I have vowed I will pay. Salvation is from the Lord.

2 Corinthians 4:15 -- For all things are for your sakes, so that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God.

2 Corinthians 9:11-12 -- You will be enriched in everything for all liberality, which through us is producing thanksgiving to God. For the ministry of this service is not only fully supplying the needs of the saints, but is also overflowing through many thanksgivings to God.

Colossians 3:15 -- Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 -- In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
