Showers for Adoption Parents

"Pure and lasting religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit [care for] orphans . . . in their distress . . . " (James 1:27).

Some churches have special offerings to assist parents who adopt since adoption costs are so expensive -- anywhere from $5000 to $15,000. Usually births are covered by medical insurance, yet there are still expenses that family and friends try to cover.

Baby showers are also usually held to help the birth parents with baby clothes, bedding, furniture, etc. to help celebrate the birth of a new child. Would it not also be a blessing and encouragement to have an "Adoption Shower" of some kind to assist with the huge adoption expense as well as giving gifts for perhaps an older child whether they are two or twelve?

Let's look for ways to assist those in our fellowships and churches who adopt to the glory of God and help fulfill James 1:27!
